This precocious musician goes on stage at the age of eleven. Originally from Haute-Savoie, he made his debut in music at the municipal harmony of his city by learning clarinet. Despite piano lessons at the Geneva Conservatory and those with his accordion teacher essential for his instrument, his learning and experience are rather self-taught. A few years later, settling in Paris, he is noticed by the jazz musicians of the French scene like Louis Winsberg or Jean-Marc Jafet who engage him in their respective group. In the middle of the song, as accompanist, he performs with artists from all horizons like Charles Aznavour, Harry Belafonte, Patrick Bruel, Maurane, Gilbert Bécaud, Serge Lama, Andrea Bocelli, Placido Domingo, Grégoire, Zaz, Julien Clerc and many others ... In jazz, we find him especially with Didier Lockwood, Youn Sun Nah and plays in the quartet of Dee Dee Bridgewater for a tour of more than two hundred concerts around the world for the album "I Have Two Loves".
His talents as a composer and renowned melodist led him to write for the image, the show and the song, especially for Claude Nougaro, Richard Bona and Grand Corps Malade. He founded his own jazz band and his first album "Les Couleurs d'ici" (1998), named for the Django d'Or, his two albums "Jazz / No Jazz" Volume 1 & Volume 2 (2004) reveal him the bearer of originality, unusual musicality. In 2011, he released his album "In Other Words" recorded with Giovanni Mirabassi, Henri Texier and André Ceccarelli. With his latest album "The Bal des Mondes" (2018) collaborations continue with notably Majid Bekkas met in Morocco. We also find a song "Fleur Bleue" with the voice of Claude Nougaro, fruit of their collaboration formerly. Always surrounded by first-rate musicians, including those of the first hour, Marc Berthoumieux offers in this album a tribute to all the music of the world as well as artists he loves deeply and who have him, somehow , shown the way ... Through these multiple travels and encounters, he forged his art, always with a strong identity and instantly recognizable.
