PRESS RELEASE :
"A melodic sense, restraint in the fingers, an acoustic fusion that is not without charm" (Jazzman)
"With a perfectly synchronized ensemble, Marc Berthoumieux offers a very good introductory album for those for whom the accordion is synonymous with musette music or puts them off, and for other music lovers with a taste for jazz" (Music Story)
"Finally, the new Berthoumieux album, and we're not disappointed: it's a very, very beautiful record" (La Fnac)
"All these people make records under their own names, you're aware of that, I think. Adding big names isn't always a guarantee of a great record, but here, the success is complete" (La Fnac)
PRESENTATION :
Among a first selection of a hundred titles, we had to make a choice and make the best of it. The first motivation of Marc Berthoumieux was the quality of the melodies. Strong melodies that could, for the time of an instrumental album, do without the words that accompany them. No style restrictions, only works that have accompanied it for a long time. An original mix where pop artists like Sting, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, or Jazzmen like Michel Petrucciani, Pat Metheny, Bobby Mc Ferrin mix. Other less anticipated titles should surprise the listener; known themes but for which we can mark a moment of hesitation to remember the title ... The list arouses curiosity, makes you want to know more ...
The team is brand new and together with Marc Berthoumieux forms a unique Quartet. Artists with whom he had never played before and whom he very much wanted to meet for this project: Giovanni Mirabassi, fabulous improvising pianist with rare lyricism supported by a dream rhythm: Henri Texier and André Ceccarelli whom we no longer present, reunited for the first time in one recording!
Three days of happiness and aiding and abetting to record this album.
And for the record, when Marc Berthoumieux presented the list of titles chosen to the group, André Ceccarelli remembered that he was the drummer of the original session of the song "Les Choses de la vie"!
The unity of this project is carried by "The Voice of the Accordion", by the search for arrangements to give a "sound" to the group and by the talent of the musicians who form this team.
Marc Berthoumieux has always liked to imagine other ways of presenting a work, to take up "In Other Words" (In Other Words) the music he likes, he offers it here ...
